Welcome to the home page of Dr. Maynard Pittendreigh, Senior Pastor of
Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church of Orlando FL
Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus Our Lord.
My name is Maynard Pittendreigh. I have been a Presbyterian pastor since 1980, and began serving the Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church of Orlando, Florida, in January, 2013. I am often asked about my name - it is Scottish and is pronounced "Pit ten dray" with the "eigh" being pronounced as in "neighbor." Many people, however, pronounce it as "pastor," "Maynard," or even "Manny" (a nickname the youth of a previous pastorate gave me).
From this site church members can access sermons and Bible studies. Elders and Deacons can access officer training material. Other pastors can also access some of my pastoral tools that I've used in that past that might be helpful in their own ministries. As an avid astronomer, I have personally experienced the biblical truth that the "heavens declare the glory of God," so there are resources for the astronomer as well.
About my faith...
I believe in God.
God is a Spirit who is infinite, eternal and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.
Through His power, a universe was created
and continues to change and evolve.
Through His love, humanity was created.
I believe in Jesus Christ, who is the only Son of God.
By the Holy Spirit, Christ was conceived and born into this world.
By human hands, Christ suffered and was killed.
By the plan of God, Christ has risen!
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
Who comforts us in our distress,
Who empowers us in our calling,
Who leads us through all life.
I believe the Bible is a library of books, poems and hymns
written through many people and over many years
and inspired by God for our teaching and training.
I believe faith and spirituality is best nurtured through a community.
In a church we nurture, comfort and encourage one another.
I believe in the purpose of life:
To glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
We are called to love, worship, serve, and study God.
We are called to love, accept, encourage, assist, and teach others.

As a Presbyterian pastor, I frequently attend the national meetings of
our denomination's General Assemblies. These gatherings are held every
two years and each one takes place in a different city. To help my
church members understand what is happening at our General Assembly, I
have kept a daily blog of each meeting, sharing my impressions and
communicating what I believe will be of most importance to my
parishioners. You can read my blogs I've kept on several of these
meetings by going to generalassemblypcusa.blogspot.com/
